Cleanroom Cleaning : How Often Should You Clean Your Cleanroom?

 

  Cleanroom as a highly purified environment, is widely used in different industries and plays an increasingly important role. Proper cleanroom cleaning procedures ensures cleanroom operation at optimal performance. Otherwise, its daily operations will be severely affected.

  Scientific cleanroom cleaning techniques will bolster the efficiency of cleanroom, providing cleaner workspace for the secure manufacturing.

 

 

1. Adhering to Cleanroom Cleaning Standards:
    Cleanroom varies in terms of functions, layouts, and respective standards in different industries. A cleanroom with higher clean class must maintain higher hygiene standard, requiring stricter cleaning protocols to minimize the risks of interference from fine particles and contaminants. A cleanroom with lower class may be less vulnerable to certain pollutants or particles. Nevertheless, they still require regular cleaning to keep cleanroom up to standards and efficiency.

2. Following Contamination Prevention Protocols: 
  The best practice of cleanroom cleaning is to follow appropriate hygiene procedures before entering the controlled environment. The protective measures under different classes must be strictly observed with sufficient protective materials.

3.Establishing Regular Cleanroom Cleaning Schedules:
  Cleanroom maintenance should be made according to regular cleaning schedule, including daily and weekly cleanroom cleaning routines. The cleaning procedures will differ based on the clean class, and need to be implemented accordingly. The following cleaning procedures are recommended: 


Daily Cleanroom Cleaning:
   (1) Before each shift begins, the floors should be mopped and vacuumed
   (2) All the wall panels should be fully vacuumed.
   (3) Clean and wipe all the windows and passages in cleanroom.
   (4) Before each shift begins, all products and supplies should be securely stored to prevent contamination.


Weekly Cleanroom Cleaning:
(1) Use detergent to clean the floor, and then vacuum it until it gets dry.
(2) Wipe clean all the wall panels with detergent and cloth, then vacuum them until they get dry.
(3) Wipe clean all the ceiling panels with detergent and cloth, removing all the residues attached to the ceilings.

4.Applying Approved Cleaning Supplies:
Suitable detergents should be selected and used after approval for cleanroom cleaning. The detergents should be environmentally friendly, with low volatility and residue, avoiding secondary pollution to the cleanroom. Before cleanroom cleaning process, necessary supplies such as brooms, mops, and detergents should be brought into cleanroom all at once. In this way, there is no need to entering and exiting the cleanroom in order to getting the missing supplies, minimizing the possibility of contamination.


5. Management of Cleanoom Cleaning Personnel:  
People is one of the significant sources of particulate contaminants for cleanroom. Staff must pass related training and assessment before access to the cleanroom, mainly including:

 All staff must complete pre-job training on cleanroom cleaning protocols and contamination control.
• Limit the number of individuals allowed in the cleanroom. Staff must wear designated cleanroom garments, shoes, and undergo air showering as well as hand disinfection procedures before entry.
• Items unrelated to production or those that easily generate dusts are not permitted to be carried into the cleanroom.
• Individuals with health issues or those who fail to adhere to the precautions guidelines are not allowed to enter.
• Develop standard work norms and strictly require staff to comply with them.

6.Conducting the Regular Cleanroom Cleaning Inspection:
    In order to ensure the normal and efficient operation of the cleanroom, in addition to strict periodic cleaning, it is necessary to develop a scientific regular cleaning inspection plan, mainly for the cleanroom air conditioning system regular inspection, and make a good record.
